Privacy Policy

Updated 8 October 2026

Our approach to privacy

Dial & Crown is a static editorial publication. We built the site to collect as little as possible: there are no user accounts, no advertising pixels and no third-party trackers at launch. If you subscribe to our newsletter, we keep your email address only to send it. This policy describes what data is actually processed when you visit dialandcrown.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

If you email us, for example with a press enquiry, a watch submission or a privacy request, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. We use this only to handle your enquiry. If you subscribe to the Dial & Crown newsletter in the site footer, we keep your email address only to send the newsletter; every issue carries an unsubscribe link, and you can leave the list at any time. There is no other point at which the site asks you to submit personal information.

Information collected automatically

Like most web servers, our hosting provider may log standard technical data needed to deliver pages and keep the server secure: IP address, requested page, date and time, browser type and referring page. We do not combine these logs with any other information to identify you, and we do not run any analytics script on the site at launch.

What we do not collect

  • We do not operate user accounts and have no passwords on file.
  • Our newsletter: if you subscribe, we keep your email address only to send the Dial & Crown newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time with one click. We never sell the list or share it with third parties for marketing.
  • We do not serve advertising, embed social media widgets or load third-party scripts.
  • We do not sell personal information. There is nothing to sell: no third-party tracker runs on the site, so no personal data reaches advertisers, data brokers or analytics vendors.

Consent preferences

The site stores your cookie consent choices in your own browser using localStorage, under the key dc_consent_v1. It records which categories you accepted (Strictly Necessary, Analytics, Functional/Personalization, Advertising/Marketing), the timestamp of your choice, and expires after 12 months. This record is a first-party record only; it never leaves your device and is never transmitted to us or anyone else.

Our consent script also honors Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals: if your browser sends a GPC opt-out signal, the site treats it as a rejection of all non-essential categories.

You can change your choices at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the site footer, which reopens the preferences panel.

Analytics

No analytics software is deployed at launch. If analytics are introduced later, they will only load after your consent in the Analytics category, and this policy will be updated first. An opt-in analytics service would be the only category that stores any measurement data.

How we use information

  • To operate, secure and monitor the site (server logs).
  • To respond to enquiries you send us by email.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do not use your information for profiling, automated decision making or marketing.

Sharing of information

We do not share personal information with third parties for their own purposes. Technical logs may be accessible to our hosting infrastructure provider insofar as is necessary to operate and secure the server. We will disclose information if required by law.

Data retention

Server logs are retained only as long as needed for security and operational purposes. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle your enquiry and any follow-up. Your consent record lives in your own browser and is not retained by us at all.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete or restrict it, the right to object to processing, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. Because the site holds no accounts or marketing lists, most requests will concern emails you have sent us or the consent record stored in your browser (which you can clear yourself at any time through your browser settings or the footer Cookie Settings link).

To exercise your rights, contact us through the channels listed on our Contact page. A dedicated privacy contact channel is being set up; details will be added here once confirmed.

Children

This site is a general editorial publication and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves, for example if a newsletter endpoint or consented analytics is added. The "updated" date at the top of this page will change, and material changes will be noted here. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Contact

For privacy questions or requests, use the channels on our Contact page. The publication is a title of VAUDERIVE, the Swiss luxury group (vauderive.com). Governing law and jurisdiction are to be confirmed by the publisher.
