Gisbert L. Brunner has written about watches for longer than most collectors have been alive, and this is his definitive Rolex volume in its third, updated and extended edition. Bound in green velvet with a gold-embossed title, it runs to 288 large-format pages in English, French and German, tracing the models that made Rolex the reference point of the industry. The photography is lavish, the scholarship is firsthand, and a companion app adds digital content to the printed pages. ISBN 978-3-96171-503-9. It belongs on the shelf between the technical references and the auction catalogues.

Why selected

The Selection already holds a narrative history and an Omega reference; a Rolex monograph completes the natural triad, and Brunner's is the one the trade reaches for. The third edition brings the content current, the velvet binding makes it an object in its own right, and at this price it is the most accessible serious Rolex library on the market.
